Professor Brett V. Benson is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science at Vanderbilt University.  He specializes in international relations, political strategy, and the political economy of conflict. His current research focuses on the design of incomplete contracts in security agreements, the economic dimensions of war, and the trade and proliferation of weapons including small arms, conventional weapons systems and nuclear technology. He is the author of Constructing International Security: Alliances, Deterrence, and Moral Hazard (Cambridge University Press).
